About Linda

Linda Fergerson never wanted to be a writer, neither did she want to travel to Israel. God had other ideas. He saw a design---His design---one He placed within her spirit before she was born. He never gave up His pursuit to capture her heart and release that purpose, even though Linda resisted.

Linda said yes to His call to Israel and traveled with Warring Dove International in 2006. While there, she had a divine encounter at Shiloh. This experience marked her heart with a desire to see all God’s sons and daughters walk in their divine destiny---the purpose written on their hearts by their Creator before they were born. She traveled to Israel several more times and became acquainted with many of the places she writes about in her books.

Her writing journey started when a friend challenged her to write a book about her barrenness. Her response, “no way!” was met with, “well, then at least pray about it,” to which she reluctantly prayed, “Okay, God, if you want me to write, then I need three things. First, a typewriter, second, my husband’s support and last, a desire to do it.” A typewriter? Well, that tells you how far back the call came.

Of course, to her exasperation, a month later, her husband gave her a typewriter for Christmas without knowing about her prayer; then he agreed to a correspondence course she saw in a magazine. The desire to write came much slower.

Her writing mentor, Marlene Bagnull, persuaded her to start with smaller projects than a book. With Marlene’s help, Linda’s writing was accepted in a few devotionals, women’s magazines and Sunday school take home papers. And yet---she walked away---only to be encouraged again years later by her husband. He bought her a computer and computer desk and paid for another writing conference. At writing conferences, she’d hear people say how much they loved writing. Not her! She’d smile, look away and inwardly, scream, I hate writing!

The writing most enjoyed by Linda came in those quiet times alone with Jesus, the one who loved her. Listening to His voice and jotting down what He said brought healing and comfort to her broken heart. She started a writers’ group called, His Writers, in which she shared what she learned along the way and encouraged them to hear and write what God said.

The first breakthrough in her desire to write for publications came at a writers’ workshop. Sitting at breakfast with the main speaker, she asked him how he dealt with disappointment when his wife got an assignment that he might have wanted. His answer opened the first door in setting her free. He said, “Well, when God thought me up, there were writing assignments he had in mind for me to write that no one else could write but me.”

The second breakthrough came at a writers’ conference years later. Tears poured down her cheeks as she listened to the teacher talk about writing with the one who created us.

“Our Father loves to create with us,”  the gentle man in the front of the class spoke, “Whether our writing sits in a drawer, or is published, when it is created with Him, it has worth.”

Creating with the Father! Linda couldn’t think of anything more wonderful. Shortly after that, she finished her first novel. At first, she had told her editor, “It’s not good enough.”  But later, holding the first copy in her hand, she wept as she remembered the Creator’s words, “It is good.”

Linda believes the Father has written a unique design and purpose for everyone’s life. She desires to see each one break free to be that wonderful person God had in mind when He created them.

Linda is married and has three adopted sons, two daughter-in-law’s and five grandsons, all off which live in or around Dodge City, Kansas. When she is not babysitting, she enjoys playing pickleball with her husband.

Her greatest enjoyment is worshipping in song and dance with Jesus, the one whose love set her free to be all the Father had in mind when He created her. Like the butterfly she doesn’t look like she knows where she’s going, but always gets where God wants her to go.
